The Viscounts

There are two types of Viscount in the Empire: Founding and not.

The Founding Members of the Empire were all granted the permanent title of Founding Viscount and granted a permanent vote on the Estates Major.

Currently, there are only two of the eight Founding Viscounts still active, Sir François de Coucy and Dame Isabeau de Ravenne. They do not use their Founding Viscount/ess titles often, since Sir François is a Prince and the Grandmaster of the Dream, and Dame Isabeau is a Princess and former Empress.

As Founding Viscounts, they are entitled to bear as part of their heraldic achievements a coronet of four fleurs-de-lis and four pearls alternating, as illustrated by the crown on the left, above.

The title of Viscount (non-Founding) was created by the Imperial Estates in February of 1999 as a retirement title for Archdukes and Archduchesses. It grants precedence but no vote on the Estates.

Currently, the following people hold the rank of Viscount or Viscountess:

This list currently only reflects those that I know off the top of my head. There are sure to be others of which I am unaware.
