The Duchy of BrandenburgNorthern San Diego County, CaliforniaBrandenburg was created in March of 2002. A portion of the lands of Terre Neuve, comprising the northern portion of San Diego County (California) was ceded to form a new duchy. Terre Neuve remained a strong kingdom, keeping the southern portion of San Diego County, and all of Imperial County. The name of Brandenburg was chosen for its historical connotations. The historical Brandenburg flourished during the Middle Ages, but not enough to cause any conflicts within the Adrian naming structure. And so a place of fair prominence in medieval history came to be a place of fair prominence in Adrian history as well. There was immediately a culture that blossomed in this new duchy, which soon grew to be an Duchy. The culture was based on service. This included all aspects of service: to Adria, to the Duchy, as well as to other individuals. The subjects of the duchy will pitch in to create their encampment as a whole, with no one stopping to wonder if the load they are hauling is theirs or someone else’s. They know only that it’s a load and it needs to be hauled. After all, many hands make the job go quickly. There has already been a tradition of themed events since Brandenburg’s inauguration, with Elizabethan tournaments, nautical wars, and other themes all following one upon the other. One never knows what they will be doing when they attend an event. They only know they will have fun! Ministers
